The “All Star Classic” Shorthorn Sale sponsored by the Alberta Shorthorn Association drew a large crowd and bidders from six Provinces and 2 States. The quality of Shorthorn genetics on offer met with everyone’s approval. The Association is already making preparations for the 2012 sale.
The high selling individual and pair of the day was consigned by DKF Cattle Co., Scott and Tina Fettes of Gladmar, SK. Maple Stone Farms, Orton, Ontario selected DKF Miss Strawberry 42W for $4,900. 42W is a direct daughter of Saskvalley Pioneer 126P, out of a Waymar HFS O’Malley sired dam, and bred back to HC FL Touchdown 123T. Her 2011 heifer calf at side was also sired by HC FL Touchdown and sold to Horseshoe Creek Farms Ltd., Weyburn, SK for $3,200.
Paintearth Walter 58W, the high points show bull 3 years running in Alberta, was consigned by Paintearth Shorthorns, Albert and Susan Oram – Castor, AB sold to Starbright Shorthorns. Eric and Rena Nelson – Bonnyville, AB for $4,800.
Crooked Post Shorthorns sold an awesome set of females at the “All Star Classic” including Crooked Post Jackie 8X who sold for $4,000 to Waukaru Farms Inc., Indiana. 8X is sired by Belmore Jackeroo and out of a Crooked Post Network sired dam and sold bred to JT Exclusive 65X.
The high selling heifer calf, from a very stout group of heifer calves, was Kenlene Doreen 4Y from Kenlene Shorthorns, Ken and Ilene Hehr – Ponoka, AB selling to Mike McFarlane of London, ON for $4,000. This two-time Heifer Calf Champion is sired by JSF Addicted 82U and out of the great producing Kenlene Doreen 5U female.
There were a number of bred females and heifer calves selling from $3,000 to $3,700.
